In accordance with Chapter 8 - Article XI of the Irving Code of Ordinances, all short-term rentals (STRs) operated inside the city limits must be registered annually with the city.
STRs are defined as “any single-family residential structure, or portion thereof, used for lodging accommodations to guests for a period of less than thirty (30) consecutive days.” (Irving Code of Ordinances Section 8-80).
This requirement is intended to establish and maintain contact with STR operators who often do not live on the property. Neighbor concerns such as property maintenance and rental guest activity that violates city codes or state laws must be addressed and corrected swiftly.
The short-term rental (STR) ordinance establishes certain operating standards. However, it does not require an inspection of the property being registered.
For questions regarding STR licensing, contact the Code Enforcement Department via email or at (972) 721-4944.
