Boards and Commissions play an important role in advising the Irving City Council on policies, programs and projects and helping ensure city decisions reflect community needs and priorities.
Board and commission members are appointed by the City Council. To be considered for an appointment, applications must be submitted to the City Secretary's Office.
The council conducts board interviews in October. The annual board appointments are made at the first council meeting in November. Appointees serve a two-year term.
Note: Any member absent 70 percent or more of scheduled meetings can be removed by the City Council.
The City of Irving offers several ways to become actively involved in municipal government. Residents can apply to serve on a board, commission or committee.
The City Secretary's Office coordinates the annual board and commission appointments.
