The City Council Audit and Finance Committee focuses on the city budget, audit, employee pay and benefits, employee insurance, franchises, tax abatements and telecommunications.

The Boards Appointments Committee focuses on making appointments to the city's boards, committees and commissions.
The Community Services Committee is a standing committee of the Irving City Council dedicated to reviewing and advising on initiatives, programs, and policies that enhance the overall quality of life for Irving residents. The committee’s scope spans a broad range of services and may include matters from any City department. Key areas of focus include, but are not limited to, community engagement, public amenities, digital accessibility, and municipal services.
The City Council Planning and Development Committee focuses on economic development initiatives, housing programs, zoning and land use, and transportation planning and design.
The City Council Public Safety Committee focuses on emergency services and community engagement of the Fire and Police Departments.
The City Council Transportation and Natural Resources Committee focuses on Capital Improvement projects, infrastructure and economic development.

The City Secretary's Office provides administrative support to the Mayor and City Council. Primary duties include council correspondence, meeting facilitation, maintaining calendars, project coordination with city staff, and organizing and preparing proclamations as directed by the Mayor.
