MiY Zone West


The MiY Zone at the West Irving Library contains a digitization lab geared adults and specialized technology and equipment for children's programs.


DIGITIZATION LAB:

West Irving Library is the proud home of the City of Irving's first digitization lab. This contains a VHD to DVD converter, ION Audio Premier LP, Titan F2D 8-in-1 Hi-Def Film to Digital Converter, the technology to transfer floppy disks, cassettes and records to digital, podcasting equipment, a photo studio lightbox, and more. 


This is intended for adults 18+ and requires a valid Irving library card, a signed MiY Zone waiver and an orientation with library staff before guests use the equipment. Once trained, guests are welcome to reserve time in the lab at the reference desk or by calling (972) 721-2691. 


CHILDREN'S EQUIPMENT:

The West has special scheduled programming that will utilize Sphero Bolts, Indis, Wonder Workshop’s Dash, Cue and Dot programmable robots, Codrones, Makey Makeys, 3D Doodler pens, microscopes, activity labs and more.


REQUIREMENTS TO USE THE MIY ZONE EQUIPMENT

Digitization Lab:

A valid Irving Library card, a signed MiY Zone waiver and completed MiY Zone orientation are required to use the equipment the space. Please request a Digitization Lab orientation at the reference desk.


Children's Equipment:

All equipment is for use during library programs and classes. Registration for these events is not required. Classes will vary by age, and the age limit for each class will be enforced order to let as many children that the class is geared for participate.


MIY ZONE CLASSES

A valid Irving Library card, a signed MiY Zone waiver and completed MiY Zone orientation are required to use items in the Adult MiY Zones and Digitization Lab.
