MISSION STATEMENT:

The Irving Public Library Community Engagement Team is committed to serving Irving's diverse population, and believes that each citizen has the right to lifelong learning and enrichment. By venturing beyond library walls, Outreach helps citizens connect with library services and resources. The team builds strong community bonds by collaborating with schools, organizations and local nonprofits.

OVERVIEW:

The team is comprised of librarians and library staff members who attend a wide range of community events and develop connections with other organizations and city departments to bring the wonderful world of the library out into the community.

Libraries aren't just about books these days! Many cardholders use library resources and services remotely on a regular basis or when they don't have time to stop by one of the three library locations: South, Valley Ranch or West.

The goal of the Community Engagement team is to meet Irving neighbors where they are and provide services like card sign ups/renewals (just be sure to have an acceptable form of ID on hand), share with residents how to get the most of the online services free to them with their card, and give information on upcoming events and opportunities for kids, teens, adults and the whole family.

Find the team at community fairs, holiday celebrations, city events, local businesses, the park…just about anywhere! If the team is out somewhere, be sure to stop by and say hello. They'd love to meet all their neighbors!

Community Resources and Asset Map

The Community Engagement/Outreach team has cultivated and continuously updates a list of agencies that operate in Irving and Dallas County. These agencies provide services for those who may need assistance with finances, clothing, housing, and a variety of other needs.

This list can also be browsed in map form by category of assistance.
