Water and Wastewater Repairs
The City of Irving's Water Utilities Department is committed to delivering safe, reliable, and clean water services to the community. A crucial aspect of this commitment involves the Water and Wastewater Repairs Division, which diligently maintains and repairs the city's extensive water infrastructure.
Responsibilities of the Water and Wastewater Repairs Division
- Proactive Maintenance: Regular inspection and servicing of water mains, valves, and hydrants to ensure optimal functionality and prevent unexpected failures.
- Emergency Response: Rapid reaction to water main breaks, leaks, and wastewater backups, minimizing service disruptions and safeguarding public health.
- Customer Support: Addressing resident concerns related to water quality, pressure issues, and wastewater blockages, providing timely and effective solutions.
Some of the things we look after...
With over 735 miles of water main in the system, there is no shortage of things to take care of. Here are a few highlights.
Isolation Valves
Isolation Valves are important because they allow sections of the water main to be shut down for repairs without affecting large areas and many customers. When an isolation valve does not operate properly it becomes necessary to replace that valve.
Fire Hydrants
These isolation valves are especially important at fire hydrants. Fire hydrants are used not only for fire protection but also are used to flush and circulate water to ensure a high quality of water is delivered to our customers. Isolation valves at fire hydrants allow the fire hydrant to be maintained without disrupting water service to our customers.
Our Customers
The Division takes a proactive and customer-focused approach to ensure residents receive reliable, high-quality service. 24/7 availability, proactive notifications, timely updates, quick repairs and the fact that we actually answer our phones and emails, make all of that possible.
