Wastewater Collection

The City of Irving is responsible for the safe collection and disposal of wastewater, and maintaining the integrity of the wastewater system.

Irving Water Utilities maintains just over 670 miles of gravity flow wastewater collection lines and eleven lift stations. The department ensures delivery of the wastewater to the Trinity River Authority (TRA) Central Regional Wastewater System (CRWS) for treatment. This work includes stopping sanitary sewer overflows by clearing pipe blockages, monitoring industrial wastewater to ensure safety of the lines, and oversees the Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) Liquid Waste Program to prevent buildup and blockages. Our Operations team cleans almost two million liner feet of pipe each year and uses video inspections to evaluate pipe condition to plan for appropriate replacement.
