Purchase Mustang Mulch
Residents, businesses and landscape companies can purchase Mustang Mulch, which is ground from brush debris collected from Irving residential customers.
The mulch is available for purchase at the Hunter Ferrell Municipal Landfill. The untreated mulch is available in 2-cubic-foot bags for $3 per bag or in bulk for $12 per cubic-yard.

Guidelines (Mulching 101)
- Mulch all trees that are not in grass or thick ground cover.
- Trees and shrubs benefit from mulch spread at least as far as their outermost branches (the drip line). To prevent diseases and pest infestation, avoid piling mulch against tree trunks.
- Use a layer of coarse mulch of 3 or more inches in depth for weed control.
- Spread mulch under annuals after they are well established (4- to 6 inches tall).
- Water the ground thoroughly before and after applying a mulch cover.
