Police Media Affairs
Informing the community, safeguarding public trust.
The Police Media Affairs unit of the Irving Police Department is composed of three dedicated professionals who serve as the primary point of contact for the media. They are responsible for releasing newsworthy information about arrests, investigations, major incidents, and crime statistics. Acting as the department’s spokespersons, they conduct most television, radio, and newspaper interviews. Additionally, they manage all social media channels, the department website, and handle graphics and video production.
Chelsey Jones
Chelsey joined the City of Irving in 2009 and was transferred to the Community Services Division at the Irving Police Department in 2011. Initially managing the convenience store program, she became heavily involved in the department’s social media outreach from 2012 and obtained certification as a Crime Prevention Specialist through TCOLE. In 2017, she moved to the Administration / Police Media Affairs section. A native of Irving, Chelsey was born at Irving Community Hospital, grew up in the city, and is an Irving High School alumna (Class of 2005). She also earned her associate’s degree from North Lake Community College.
Delaney Brey
Delaney joined the Irving Police Department in August 2023, transitioning from a decade-long career in sports broadcasting. As a Media Affairs Coordinator, she specializes in video production and storytelling. Although her background is primarily in covering athletes and professional teams, she expanded her focus to news coverage during the pandemic to help support local businesses and maintain community safety. A Mesquite native, Delaney is well acquainted with the DFW area and is committed to strengthening ties among residents, businesses, visitors, and officers. She holds a degree in Multimedia Journalism with a minor in Public Relations from Lynn University. A notable story from her career includes covering the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2021 NBA Finals, which led to an unexpected encounter with a deer keeper at the Phoenix Zoo—a story she counts among her favorites.
Anthony Alexander
Anthony Alexander joined the Irving Police Department in 2020, bringing with him a decade of prior law enforcement experience in Georgia. Over the course of his career, he has served in multiple capacities, including patrol and criminal investigations. He holds an Associate of Science in Business Administration from Southwest Tennessee Community College. Outside of his professional duties, Anthony enjoys mountain biking and weekend grilling.
This team plays a crucial role in maintaining transparent communication between the Irving Police Department and the public, ensuring that accurate and timely information is disseminated through multiple media channels.
