Placemaking + Art Initatives
A sense of place and belonging is being actively promoted through thoughtful design, art, and engaging programming. Ongoing assessments and pilot programs are strengthening downtown's identity and enhancing its appeal to the community.
The mural project began with a Call for Artists in late Summer 2024. During the fall, three finalist design concepts were presented for public input, and residents voted for their favorite. The winning concept and artist, Timeless Irving by Odessa Helm, was awarded the project in January 2025. Helm began painting in March and completed the mural in April 2025.
Timeless Irving illustrates how the city’s past flows into the present, connecting generations through shared streets and experiences.
