The city participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS), a statewide pension fund that provides retirement, disability and death benefits. Employees contribute a 7 percent deposit rate, and the city matches contributions 2:1, with vesting at five years and full retirement eligibility at 20 years.


The City of Irving does not participate in Social Security but offers a Supplemental Benefit Retirement Plan and an optional 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan.
