Color the Summer Read: Summer Reading 2025
Unleash creativity this summer along with fun prizes with the Color Our World and Fully Booked reading challenges at the Irving Public Library!
From June 1 through July 31, Irving Public Library transforms into a vibrant hub of creativity, imagination and hands-on fun. Families can enjoy captivating stories, energetic performers, exciting animal encounters, special visits from first responders and a kaleidoscope of opportunities for kids to explore and express their creativity!
The Summer Reading Challenge (SRC) program for ages 3 to 12 is designed to spark curiosity and keep young minds learning while school is out. Read two hours a week—or more—to earn colorful prizes like an mood pencil, a pop-it bracelet, a color-changing cup and more!
Teens can tap into their inner artist this summer with a colorful lineup of creative activities! From studying the great artistic masters to hands-on crafts, movie afternoons and DIY projects, there’s something for every teen looking to add a dash of creativity to their summer days. Teens can read just 2.5 hours a week to earn cool prizes—while supplies last! Each turned in log (up to 7 logs) double as an entry into an art box drawing!
Caregivers are invited to foster their little one’s early literacy through the SRC Baby Challenge. Engage in simple activities—reading, singing, playing, writing, and talking—to earn a prize pack and commemorative certificate perfect for baby’s scrapbook. Activities also count toward 1KB4K (1,000 Books Before Kindergarten).
